New Ferry Service to Begin June 1st

Beginning June 1st, there will be additional ferry service between St. John and St. Thomas.

Interisland Boat Service will begin ferry service between Crown Bay Marina and Cruz Bay. Crown Bay is the closest marina to the airport – roughly a five minute or so drive – so this is great for people traveling to and from the airport. Here is the new schedule in its entirety:

  1. Great News! It’s about time that travelers to St. John will no longer be held hostage to a taxi service that is invariably uncomfortable and often bogged down in traffic on the way to Red Hook, or hauling other passengers to out of the way destinations before delivering St. John bound folks to the ferry at Red Hook. While there has been some improvement in recent years with dispatchers getting people aboard the appropriate taxis, getting to Red Hook on time is often nerve wracking, and ferries are missed. This new service could eliminate much of the discomfort and anxiety. Let’s hope it is successful and that scheduled departures and arrives might be increased.

  2. Great news, however, those departure times don’t seem to help people visiting the island. If my flight arrives around 1:30 I’d have to wait until 5:00 to get on the ferry and by the time i reached St John most of the Jeep rental shops would be closed. Likewise with outbound flights boarding around 2:00 I’d need to be at the airport by noon. The 11:00 ferry might work but just barely. Any delay with security or checkin and I’d risk missing my flight. Ideally would love to see a ferry from Crown Bay to Cruz at 2:45 and departing Cruz Bay to Crown at 10:00AM. Would use that EVERY time over the tour of St Thomas!!

  3. are the 2 different pick up spots at Crown Bay Marinia close to each other?..and how will an arriving airplane passenger know if there is a ship in that day or not..will a schedule be posted at the airport?

  4. will taxis meet each arrival at Crown Bay to transport people to the airport. Perhaps you could ask Interisland Boat Services to address this and other questions posed here.

  5. Need more information on this ferry please.
Which company is managing this ferry?
Are taxis waiting at Crown Bay to go to airport for would we need to call?
