New Restaurant Opens in Cruz Bay

A new restaurant opened in Cruz Bay Tuesday night, and we think you’re all going to like it. It’s called Extra Virgin and it opened in the former Fatty Crab location, which is just up the hill from Woody’s, across from the ball field. Extra Virgin is being operated by Executive Chef/Owner Thomas Garfield and Owner/General Manager Ryan Costanzo.

Extra Virgin will offer a range of small plate appetizers that range from $12 to $14. It also offers two salads for $12 and a variety of entrees, ranging in price from $32 to $38. They’re growing a ton of herbs on site, so we’re predicting that there’ll be a heavy emphasis on fresh ingredients.

Extra Virgin opens at 6 p.m. As of Wednesday night was cash only; however they’re hoping to be able to accept credit card transactions beginning this evening. I’m planning on dining there tonight, and I’ll let you know all about it.

  1. Too pricey? I have to disagree. Its prices are similar to other fine dining locations on St John. La Tapa, Terrace, Waterfront Bistro, Vista Mare, Ocean 362, and Asolare all START in that price range for entrees and only get more expensive from there. This menu is extremely competitive. Not to mention that the talent behind the scenes speaks for itself as well, if you’re familiar with the restaurant industry on island.

  2. We have been coming to St Johns for 12 years. Extra Virgin is a fantastic new addition to the restaurant scene. We enjoyed the fresh arugula salad with a fried egg and bacon. My husband enjoyed the fresh seafood cioppino.
The entries are very generous.Atmosphere was welcoming staff excellent? We will definitely visit Extra Virgin again.
