Cruz Bay Bar Update

castaways dog house entrance

Back in May, we told all of you how Castaways, one of our favorite spots on island, had sold and that it would soon be transformed into a new bar – the Dog House Pub. The new owners have been working tirelessly to transform the spot, so we thought we’d provide you all with a quick little update.

The official name changeover will most likely happen within the next month or so when the lower level bar reopens. The lower level bar has been undergoing extensive renovations for several weeks now, and the entrance closest to the Connections building has been closed off. The upstairs bar and deck area, however, remain open and are accessible by the entrance closest to Bayside Market.

Some old time Castaways’ favorites remain like Bingo, which happens every Sunday around 5-ish (or whenever Casey is ready to begin). Karaoke now happens on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m. to midnight.

There’s been some menu changes as well. Castaways is now offering an extensive burger menu with $5 burgers available during happy hour from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. They’re also adding a new pressure fryer, so soon they will have fried chicken on their menu.

Lastly they’re offering a new eating challenge. (Does anyone remember when Castaways used to do this with wings???) The new burger challenge, which is legendary in Dog House Pub’s St. Thomas location, is one burger with nine patties and one bun. Beat the current record of six minutes and 41 seconds and the challenge will be renamed in your honor. The burger will also be on the house, and you’ll get a $25 gift certificate too.
