Cruise ships ahoy

At least three cruise ships will call on St. John in the next 9 days.  The Wind Spirit, a multi-masted sailing and power ship, has been a frequent visitor to St. John, often anchoring off Great Cruz Bay as well as Cruz Bay.  It’s due Sunday. Jan. 29.  The following Day, SeaDream I is due.

Clubmed2_1New to me is Club Med II. It is a making a call on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Incidentally, while some of us saw the Queen Mary anchored off Charlotte Amalie during the last two years we’re not likely to see it again this year.  The president and CEO of the West Indian Company, Edward Thomas, said the QM2 was never intended to be a Caribbean ship. "It was a bonus, we got spoiled," he told the Virgin Islands Daily News.  The Queen is about to begin its maiden voyage to Hawaii, departing from Los Angeles late next month, and spend most of the winter cruising to South America.
